COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - An Alvin man is facing multiple charges after leading police on a short chase into the Northgate district early Friday morning.

College Station police say Daniel Alejandro Gutierrez, 19, was being stopped by officers near the intersection of Wellborn Road and Holleman Drive just after 2:00 a.m. Friday. According to officers, Gutierrez showed signs of intoxication. During the stop, officers say that Gutierrez sped off in his Chevy pick-up.

The arrest report says that Gutierrez sped up Wellborn, then turned on to University Drive. Officers following him say he tried to turn onto Boyett Street, but was blocked by the barricades. Gutierrez drove his truck onto a sidewalk and over a curb at a nearby gas station, finally stopping in the surface parking lot. Then, officers say, he got out and ran.

Officers were able to catch Gutierrez. He's being charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated. No one was injured in the incident.
