BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - After a mighty winter chill sank into the Brazos Valley this past weekend, warmer temperatures surge in this week on a south to southwest wind.
Thermometers took a stumble backwards by 5° Tuesday in the wake of our recent cold front. By mid-morning Wednesday, southerly wind returns to the area as high pressure moves to the east of Texas.
Even with cloud cover, once that wind takes on a west and a southwesterly component, temperatures are expected to surge into the 70s for Valentine's Day and the start of the weekend.
Some forecast models want to settle on the low 80s for highs in parts of the Brazos Valley both Friday and Saturday afternoon.
While warm for mid-February, get out and enjoy it for what it is. Next cold front arrives before the weekend ends, allowing brisk, blustery, winter air back in for much of the upcoming week.
