BBB warns of convincing airline scam

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - The Better Business Bureau is warning people about an airline scam targeting travelers online.

People will often search for cheap airline tickets online and purchase them through an unfamiliar website. The scammers will buy the tickets and the victim will get a real reservation number. Scammers will later cancel the ticket and keep the money from the refund.

The BBB says what makes the scam so convincing is that the ticket is actually booked and victims get a real confirmation email that can be verified with the airline.

In order to avoid these scams, the BBB recommends you do your research, use a reputable travel site when booking, and buy tickets with a credit card.
