The Bryan College Station Hispanic Forum held its 21st annual scholarship gala Saturday night, raising money for local educational scholarships.

The Brazos Center in Bryan was packed with hundreds of people for the Coco themed event, enjoying a night of live music and dinner.

News 3’s Rusty Surette and Karla Castillo emceed the night, as money was raised through ticket sales, donations, and silent auctions.

The BCS Hispanic Forum President Dora Davila says they awarded 80 scholarships, totaling $130,000.

"The scholarships will go directly to the Universities, or Junior Colleges, or trade schools that these students have been accepted to, and it is towards their education, towards their tuition,” said Davila.

The Forum says they are hoping to raise at least $119,000 tonight to reach a milestone mark of $1,000,000.

The next event to raise money for these scholarships is in September, for their annual 5K. For more information about the Hispanic Forum,
