BPD investigating vehicle break-ins in Austin Colony
Bryan Police are investigating another string of vehicle burglaries that took place in the Austin's Colony subdivision earlier this week. They say nothing was damaged, but items were stolen out of unlocked cars.
"If I had locked my door, maybe I wouldn't have been broken into," said an Austin’s Colony resident.
The resident says he was a victim of a vehicle break-in Wednesday night, and he’s worried the crooks might come back.
"We make it good practice to keep all the valuables in the house, but this time I forgot to lock the door," explained the resident.
He got into his truck Thursday morning and found his door was slightly open and everything was out of place.
"The center console wide open and my glove box was wide open with all my registration that was in there on the actual floorboard," he said.
He didn't catch the thieves on camera but thinks the two men in a video from a couple of blocks over might be the ones to blame.
In the video, two people walk towards a white truck. One of them stays out of sight and opens the truck door, while the other one lingers around behind it. You can watch the video yourself in the player above.
The Austin’s Colony resident says if the thieves come back to his house, they won’t be getting inside a second time around.
"Just a word of the wise: Keep your stuff locked, your vehicle locked and keep your valuables in the house," he said.
Police say a purse, money and a firearm were all stolen during the break-ins this week.
