Boston-based "neighborhood gift card" company coming to BCS

A Boston-based company is bringing an interesting new business to Bryan-College Station.

The company is called Nift.

It works by allowing participating businesses select their favorite customers and give them a Nift, or a neighborhood gift card, that's good at other local businesses.

It's designed to help them compete against large companies like Amazon.

The company plans to hire about 400 people in our area.

Nift's CEO and founder Elery Pfeffer visited our area and thought it was the perfect fit.

"First of all we saw a good match with our values, which include respect and performance and making decisions that are good for our team and the greater good as well as a good pool of talent," said Pfeffer.

They already have 2,000 merchants in the Boston area and are hoping to expand nationwide over the next few years.
