New technology causing delays at the Brazos County Health Department

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - The Brazos County Health Department switched to a new electronic record keeping system this week. There have been some delays in the clinic as the staff adjust to the new system.

"It's very secure and safe. It's just going to take a little bit of time for our nurses to adjust, and we appreciate the community being patient with us," said Mary Parrish with the Brazos County Health Department.

"It's very efficient, but we are still learning it," explained Parrish. She said the staff is having to adjust their "old school" ways of using paper records. Parrish said the change to a newer system was long overdue.

"It's not only going to save us a lot of time and trouble as with the paper records, but when we do research, specifically in our clinics, it's just a click of a button away instead of paper files. We will be able to better record what's going on in our community," she said.
