Brazos County receives new voting machines
The Brazos County Elections Administration received their new voting machines Monday morning. Just over 400 voting machines and 60 controllers are now in Brazos County.
They equipment will be unpacked next month. The new machines will still be an electronic system, but will be user friendly and all touch screen.
Trudy Hancock, the Brazos County Elections Administrator, says every system will go through acceptance testing before it’s programmed for an election to make sure everything works properly.
“The technology for the old one system was 15 years old, and all that equipment was aging out. We were starting to have some technical problems with them. So it was time for a new system,” Hancock said.
Hancock said the voting machines will be ready to go by the November election. Over 200 election workers will go through extensive training before using the machines.
