BRYAN, Tex.(KBTX) The Bryan High School Color Guard is taking their talents from Merill Green Stadium all the way to Dayton, Ohio.
Color guard uses flags, sabers and rifles to pump up football fans, but this year they’ll also be performing at the Winter Guard World Championships.
Senior Alysia Gonzales has been on the team for four years. She says the color guard is ready to give their all in Ohio.
“We have to prepare ourselves to show the judges what we do, like who we are. We’re not just some small town group, we’re big and we’re going to show them who we are,” said Gonzales.
During the winter season, the squad keeps busy with indoor competitions. The team made it through three regional meets in Texas which earned them a spot at nationals.
Win or lose, coach Marie DeBellis is happy the team is getting this experience.
“They work incredibly hard, sometimes through some adversities. They push through, and so I’m extremely proud of them, no matter what the results be,” said DeBellis.
The Winter Guard International World Championships begin April 3 in Dayton, Ohio.
