BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - The Bryan ISD Summer Library Program is helping children avoid the summer slide during the upcoming months with a couple of different programs.

The Summer Incentive Reading Log will offer students prizes if they read 20 books over the summer. The program is geared toward elementary and intermediate students but coordinator Denise Kersten says older students can also participate.

The district is also opening several elementary school libraries to the community during summer school hours. District staff say students should be accompanied by an adult. They can join in for story time, explore the makerspace center, or check out a book.

The hours and locations are:

Bonham Elementary Library, 3100 Wilkes Drive
