Bryan Parks and Recreation hosts special event for seniors

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX)- The City of Bryan Parks and Recreation Department hosted its first ever Senior Dance Night on Thursday.

The event was hosted at the Phillips Event Center in Bryan, and open to the community offering a night of casino game, dancing, music, and food.

Winnings from the casino games could be redeemed with prizes that were donated to the event.

Bryan Parks and Recreation event coordinator Gwen Schillings says this is their first year hosting this event.

“We've been wanting to do something for our seniors in our community for a long time. This year we've really put a lot of things together and we were hopefully able to do something successful with this,” says Schillings.

Bryan Parks and Recreation says they hope to continue this event next year, giving the entire senior community in the Brazos Valley the opportunity to have a fun night on the town.
