BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - A Bryan man has been arrested after police say he assaulted two different officers.

On Saturday night, officers spotted 38-year-old Angel Gonzales driving a white Ford Mustang with a fake temporary tag.

During the traffic stop, he tried to run away on foot, and when an officer took him to the ground, Gonzales began hitting the officer. He was also able to grab the officer's flashlight and hit him in the head, causing the officer to need stitches.

Gonzales was able to get away, but officers caught up with him again and pepper sprayed him. That's when he allegedly kicked another officer with his boot.

Gonzales was arrested for assaulting a public servant, evading arrest, and displaying a fictitious license plate, among other charges.

He's currently in the Brazos County Jail on more than $30,000 bond. He is also on an immigration hold with ICE.
