BRAZOS COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX)- A Bryan man has been sentenced to prison for stabbing his roommate with a pocketknife multiple times in 2017.
Floyd Sherwood, 60, pleaded guilty to the attack that unfolded in front of several children in the middle of a public street.
Bryan police said Sherwood was upset with his roommate because he entered his room and broke his door frame. The two lived on Legion Court.
Sherwood was sentenced to 45 years in prison on Thursday.
Prosecutors say the victim nearly died from his injuries. He had multiple lacerations to his intestines.
Sherwood has a history of violent acts including multiple assaults on police officers and a 16-year sentence for a child injury case.
“For nearly four decades violence has been the answer for this defendant, leaving a trail of victims behind him. With this sentence, this defendant’s violence has come to an end. Our community is safer for it," said Amanda Koenig and Steve Zimmerman, Brazos County Assistant District Attorneys.
