Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are testing the water at BSR Cable Park's Surf Resort in Waco for a brain-eating amoeba called Naegleria fowleri.

Kelly Craine, Waco-McLennan County Public Health District spokesperson said, “The CDC collected water samples and are currently investigating to find the source. We hope to have results by the end of the week.”

Craine said one person from out of state who visited the park has been infected by the amoeba, and the CDC is trying to find the source.

The Baylor Wakeboarding club team is scheduled to host a tournament next weekend at the surf resort.
