Caldwell man arrested on murder charge connected to missing person case

BURLESON COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX)- A Caldwell man has been arrested on a murder charge connected to a missing person case.

The following news release was issued by DPS:

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Texas Ranger Division today announced an arrest in a Burleson County missing person case.

Zachary Edward Evan Rockwell, 36, of Arkansas, was last seen on May 27, 2019, and reported missing by family members early this Sunday morning (July 7).

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office investigators, with the assistance of the Texas Rangers (DPS), were investigating the disappearance when on Monday, they discovered new information that led investigators to the discovery of a body that is believed to be Zachary Edward Evan Rockwell. The body was located today in the 1300 block of Tiger Lane, northwest of Caldwell, at approximately 11 a.m.

The body was sent to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death and to be identified.

Michael Leonard McFarlane, 35, of Caldwell, has been arrested for murder and tampering with physical evidence and remains in custody at the Burleson Co. jail.

Investigators are continuing to work on this developing case. At this time, no further information is available for release.
