October is Cyber Security Awareness Month and to mark the occasion, the city of Bryan is launching an online safety campaign to protect people at home and in the workplace.

Scott Smith is the Chief Information Security Officer for the city and Bernie Acre is the Chief Information Officer. They say the city of Bryan blocks about a million nefarious events every day that include anything from spam emails to hack attempts.

During Cyber Security Awareness Month, the city of Bryan will host a campaign promoting safe internet use. The city will use its social media platforms to put out internet security tips each week. The goal is to give people an idea of safe practices they can use. Smith and Acre also want to encourage folks who are interested in cyber security, to look into the thousands of cyber security jobs that are available across the country.
