COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - The College Station City Council is taking a look Thursday at some neighborhood integrity issues.
City staff are presenting several items, including creating a new zoning designation. It would be called "middle housing". Like its name, the overlay would be for housing bigger than single-family homes and smaller than apartment complexes.
City planners are also looking at updating their neighborhood conservation overlay after surveying residents.
"If things don’t quite fit in single family neighborhoods this would be a place for these things to go, so that would try to create more flexibility there," said College Station Planning Administrator Justin Golbabai.
"On the neighborhood conservation overlay the idea is that if there's additional character protections neighborhoods want to make that zoning district a little more usable for neighborhoods that want to go through that process," he said.
The city council will be providing direction to staff Thursday how to move forward on these items.
