COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX)- All College Station ISD employees will receive a substantial pay increase thanks to a school finance bill.
House Bill 3 requires school districts to spend at least 30% ($1.56 million for CSISD) of the new money infused into the system on compensation increases for all non-administrative employees and at least 75% ($1.17 million for CSISD) of that amount toward raises for teachers, librarians, counselors, and nurses.
In the most aggressive compensation plan in years, College Station ISD will increase employee salaries by a total of $3.8 million, which is 73% of the new HB 3 money.
Classroom teachers, librarians, counselors and nurses with 0-5 years of experience will get a pay increase between 3.6 and 4.5% off the midpoint of teacher salary schedule, while teachers with more than six years of experience will get raises of 5.1 to 5.6% off the midpoint of teacher salary schedule.
CSISD clerical staff, classroom aides, bus drivers, maintenance staff, cafeteria workers, and custodians will receive a raise of 4% off the midpoint, while administrative professionals will receive a raise of 3% percent off the midpoint.
The 2019-2020 budget and tax rate will be adopted at the August school board meeting.
