College Station police need Crimestoppers tips for Islamic Center shooting
College Station Police need your help finding out who's responsible for shooting at the Islamic Community Center in Northgate.
Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk has an update on the case in this Crimestoppers report.
"On Thursday, July 7th at approximately 4:12 A.M., the Islamic Community Center located in the 400 block of Stasney Street in College Station was damaged by gunfire. All indications suggest that the targeting was intentional," said Sheriff Chris Kirk of Brazos County.
"At this time we don't have any suspect information," said Detective Patricia Marty of the College Station Police Department.
"Security camera footage shows what appears to be a small, light colored, late model sedan with a third brake lamp and shiny wheel rims make several passes in front of the building. On the last pass, the vehicle slowed and you can see a series of muzzle flashes coming from the open front passenger window. Once the shots were fired, the vehicle sped away in an easterly direction," Kirk said.
"We had a very dangerous situation take place in the Northgate Entertainment District. It's a very populated area in our community. We are very fortunate that nobody was there for early prayer service that morning but it very well could have ended badly," added Marty.
"This case has been classified as deadly conduct due to the potential risk of harm," said Kirk.
"We are very fortunate that there were no injuries that day," said Marty.
"We need your help to catch the people that committed this dangerous crime," said Sheriff Kirk.
