Community holds vigil for Hazana Anderson

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - Dozens of people gathered at Gabbard Park to pray and light candles for two-year-old Hazana Anderson, Tuesday.

Gifts and monetary donations were also left for Hazana's family.

Heather McCaskill, a stranger who organized the vigil, said she was surprised by the overall turnout.

"I think that it says that for one, this community rocks. And for two, there's still a lot of love in this world. And if we could just get a lot more of that, it would be even better," said McCakill.

On October 28th, Hazana was reported missing at the same park by her mother, TiAundra Christon. Investigators from College Station Police Department and Galveston County late found out that Hazana's body in a lake in Texas City. According to Galveston County investigators, Christon reported that she and her boyfriend Kenny Hewett beat the child to death.
