BRAZOS COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX) - The Brazos County District Attorney says Austin Price pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child and has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
The 37-year-old was arrested on March 2 after a 14-year-old girl reported he sexually abused her. The girl told Bryan Police that Price started assaulting her when she was in the 7th grade.
She also stated that Price would buy things for her and ask for favors in return. When she did not perform those favors, he would force himself on her.
The victim said she didn't report the abuse at first because Price threatened to hurt her mother. She made the decision to tell her mom because she was worried her younger sisters might have been abused as well.
“Victims of child sexual abuse who make the brave decision to come forward free themselves from darkness and protect those around them. Because of the courage of this child, our community is a safer place,” said Assistant District Attorney Kara Comte.
Price will be required to serve half of his sentence before he's eligible for parole.
