Corporate officials respond to complaints about local dealership

HUNTSVILLE, Tex. (KBTX)- A spokesperson for Hyundai Motor America has confirmed an independent dealership has closed its Huntsville location following multiple complaints from buyers.

KBTX was first to report last month the concerns coming from the KamKad Hyundai dealership on I-45 after several customers claimed the business was refusing to turn over titles, registration, and proper plates following their new vehicle purchase.

On Monday, Michael Stewart of Hyundai Motor America's Corporate and Marketing Public Relations department issued the following statement in response to our reports:

"We are very concerned with the issues our customers have reportedly experienced at KamKad Hyundai, the independent Hyundai dealer in Huntsville, Texas.

We don’t have any information to share regarding new ownership at this location, but we are fully committed to providing Hyundai customers in the market with a reliable, honest dealer that provides them with an outstanding shopping, buying, ownership and service experience. Customers in the area looking to purchase or service a Hyundai vehicle should locate another Hyundai dealer near them."

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles is investigating more than a dozen complaints lodged against KamKad Hyundai.

Several of the customers have said they plan to seek legal action against the company.
