COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - A San Angelo man was arrested after leading College Station police on a chase.

At around 1:47 a.m. Friday, an officer noticed a vehicle driving erratically on Wellborn Rd. near Fidelity St.

The driver, Desmond Jusua Dixon, 21, of San Angelo, made an abrupt turn on to Grove St., causing the officer to slam on his breaks to avoid hitting him.

Dixon proceeded to ignore the patrol car's emergency lights and tried to lose the officer by making several turns.

According to police, he then lost control of the vehicle on Fidelity St. and drove through two yards, striking a mailbox.

Dixon reportedly left his vehicle on Highland St. and tried to run away on foot. Authorities were able to track him down. They found him hiding behind Aggieland Outfitters on George Bush Dr.

Dixon is charged with driving while intoxicated and evading in a motor vehicle.
