BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - As expected, multiple inches of rain fell across the Brazos Valley Friday and through the early hours of Saturday morning. A new, daily rainfall record was set in Bryan / College Station.

A potent, upper level low -- that spent most of the week in the open waters of the Pacific -- moved closer to Texas Friday. Small disturbances ahead of that system prompted rounds of rain and a few rumbles of thunder across the Brazos Valley.

In Bryan / College Station, the previous record rainfall for December 7th was set in 1931 at 1.70". After 24 hours, Easterwood Aiport received 3.97", shattering the old record by 2.27". 2018 will now replace that 87 year old standing in the record books.
