Dentist: Why you should address your child's oral health early on

By  |

Dentist and president of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Joe Castellano joined First News at Four to discuss the importance of addressing your child's oral health early on. See the video player above.

From the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry:

"Parents today are faced with countless decisions concerning the care of their children. While many parents prioritize their children’s health, a new national survey of parents and caregivers found that several gaps exist when it comes to oral health knowledge of our children. The survey also showed early visits to the dentist were not a ‘standard’ practice, like regular visits to the pediatrician often are, and 74 percent of parents surveyed did not take their children to the dentist by their first birthday.

"Dr. Castellano shares findings from a new national survey that uncovers attitudes and beliefs, along with misconceptions and myths, around pediatric oral care and little teeth."
