CALDWELL, Tex. (KBTX) - Caldwell ISD is one step closer to building its new elementary school.

This week the school board approved plans for the school that would replace the current middle school.

The design would use the old middle school and add 40-thousand square feet and will hold 700 students, according to Andy Peters, Caldwell ISD Superintendent.

The middle school will move to the Intermediate School and the Intermediate will move to the current elementary.

Construction is set to begin in October.

The board only approved the schematic designs and final drawings and the price will be set in August..which is estimated to be about $14 million, according to Superintendent Andy Peters.

The funds come from the November 2018 Bond that passed.
