Domestic dispute leads to car crashing into Bryan church

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - "I was planning to be fishing today. I would have rather been fishing yesterday as well," remarked Christ Way Baptist Church Pastor Larry Reinecke.

Bryan Police Department responded to a major accident around 6 a.m. Thursday.

According to the police report, Michael Zamago picked up his fiance in her car, accused her of cheating, punched her in the face, and then drove into one of the church's buildings.

"Had this have been on a Wednesday evening on Sunday evening or Sunday night, the room would've been filled with people," said Pastor Reinecke.

"We don't know what God's plan is for this, but he'll use it for his best."

The early estimate for the damage is $40,000, and for insurance purposes, the church will have to file charges.

"I have prayed with the young lady that was involved," said Pastor Reinecke. "The young man, I've prayed for him, I will continue to do so. We pray for the sinner and without giving pardon to the sin. That's not our place."

It's a plan the pastor says he'll be able to share with the church -- practice what you preach.

"This is the building, this is not the church," said Pastor Reinecke. "The people are the church, and we're just praising God that the people are all right."

Zamago was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief plus two additional existing charges. His bail is a combined total of $67,000.
