A mapping service is helping the Madisonville Cemetery Association discover dozens of unmarked graves at the Madisonville Cemetery.

Omega Mapping Services was out at the cemetery Monday using a device that captures images above and below ground.

Using technology like GPS, ground penetrating radar and satellite images, they create a site overview and digitally draw printable as-built maps.

"If you look around, you will see all these vast areas of open space. There is a good chance there are people buried there." said Madisonville Cemetery member Clark Osborne.

"There's no map. There's nothing online where you can see who is buried here," he added.

Not only are there unmarked graves, there a couple of instances where headstones aren't located where people are buried.

Omega Mapping is launching a new app in September where you can store pictures, videos and other items of a loved one a database. You can access that information by scanning a bar code that will be located on a medallion on the headstone.
