A Madisonville man is dead after an accident on Highway 75 in Madison County on Friday, March 29.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety were called to the scene just after 10:00 p.m. that night. The accident happened about four miles north of Madisonville.
Investigators say that April Towery, 42, was driving her 2015 Nissan Altima when she hit the back of a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the Jeep was ejected from the vehicle. He's being identified as Bill Brewer, 55, from Madisonville.
Two passengers were in the car. Heidi Ellis, 61, was severely injured and taken to CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. Kendall Ellis, 8, was the other passenger. She was treated at the scene and released.
Towery is charged with intoxication manslaughter, according to DPS.
Madison County says it has no record of her being booked into the county jail.
