BRAZOS COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX) - Dozens gathered on Highway 6 to remember a cyclist killed last week.

Saturday morning across and flowers were placed near the area where 46-year-old Kenneth Spence was killed last Wednesday.

Spence was hit by a vehicle on the Highway 6 access road near Peach Creek Cut Off Road.

Spence had a long career in the Navy before becoming Chief Nurse Anesthetist at Baylor Scott & White in College Station.

Friends and family say he had a big impact on the community.

"Ken was a great man and he deserves a lot more than this. He was a great boss. He was a great CRNA he was a great friend and he was a great husband and father to his daughter," said Elliott Morris, a co-worker who'd been friends with Spence for about a year.

"And the world would be a better place with Ken still here," added Morris.

Spence's funeral is set for January 23rd at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in San Antonio.
