Flooding damage at Bryan ISD's Sam Rayburn Middle School after water line bursts
Sam Rayburn Middle School in Bryan suffered damage after the main ceiling water line broke.
According to the district, 50 various rooms have been affected by the rupture, including computer labs.
District maintenance crews are spending their Sunday working to make repairs and clean up the school.
CrossCentral Church was set to hold its regular Sunday service at the school.
According to people with the church, at about 7:00 a.m., a school district maintenance worker working the church service heard an explosion, and a rush of water came through the school.
There were a couple inches of water in the cafeteria.
Staff in the district are due to return to work in the middle of this week. Classes begin again Monday, January 9. District Spokesperson Brandon Webb tells News 3 the school should be ready for Rayburn students to return as scheduled.
Rayburn is located on Highway 6 between Boonville Road and Old Reliance Road.
