COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - Hundreds of Texas A&M students and staff have signed an online petition to make the school a "sanctuary campus" that would seek to support and protect undocumented immigrants.
The movement began after the election of Donald Trump in response to his proposal to curb illegal immigration and possibly deport millions of undocumented immigrants.
Those organizing the efforts say the idea is to provide a safe space for undocumented Aggies who may be concerned during the transitioning administration in the White House.
News 3's Clay Falls joins First News at Four to discuss the efforts and the opposition. For his comments, see the video above. For a link to the petition itself, see the Related Links.
