MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX) - As the Catholic Church continues dealing with a sex abuse scandal among its priests, a former priest at a Montgomery County church is facing his own accusations.

Manuel La Rosa-Lopez is charged with four counts of indecency with a child after two victims came forward stating he had inappropriately touched and kissed them.

Police say he was a priest at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe when the alleged abuse occurred.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday afternoon that Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston has been accused by two people of not doing enough to stop La Rosa-Lopez.

One of the alleged victims was promised that La Rosa-Lopez would be removed from any contact with children, only to discover that the priest remained in active ministry at another parish 70 miles away in Fort Bend County.

La Rosa-Lopez turned himself in to the Montgomery County Jail Wednesday.
