Governor Abbott proclaims December 5 a Day of Mourning for President Bush

AUSTIN, Tex. (KBTX) - Governor Greg Abbott announced Monday that December 5 will be an official Day of Mourning in Texas in honor of former President George H.W. Bush.

He encouraged the people of Texas to gather and pay their respects through ceremonies at homes, schools, businesses, places of worship and other appropriate places.

State agencies, offices and departments will be closed Wednesday to allow state employees to attend observances. The press release from the Governor also indicated general government operations will be maintained by skeleton crews.
