RICHARDS, Tex. (KBTX) - A Grimes County teen is out on bond after police say he accidentally shot his friend in the face playing a dangerous game from social media .

It's called the "You Lackin Challenge."

Disturbing examples of the game are all over the internet showing people pointing guns at each other.

17-year-old Raul Garcia Jr. was released from jail Tuesday afternoon and News 3 was there.

He's charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after accidentally shooting his 16-year-old friend in the face on Sunday as they were playing the game.

"One will display a firearm at another and ask, 'Are you lackin?' The other individual will then display a gun back at the first individual and will say, 'No,.' That was the cause of this incident," said Investigator Kindale Pittman with the Grimes County Sheriff's Office.

He says says Garcia and the other teen were driving playing the game when Garcia fired the shot.

Investigators say they got the handguns after trading marijuana.

"Mr. Garcia and the 16-year-old victim were traveling on FM 149. They were traveling eastbound from Richards upon going over the railroad tracks," said Pittman.

"A bump at the time they were playing this game, they hit the bump in the railroad tracks at that point the firearm had discharged and struck the victim in the face," said Pittman.

Pittman says the teens ditched the guns on the side of the road and rushed to the hospital in Huntsville. Law enforcement found the guns Tuesday morning.

"You don't ever point a firearm at anything you don't intend to destroy. That's common gun safety," said Pittman.

Raul Garcia was released on $3,000 bond.

The 16-year-old victim was last listed in stable condition at the hospital in Huntsville.

Investigators are looking into who gave the teens the guns.
