Gun stolen from Waller County Sheriff's Office found in California

WALLER COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX)- The Waller County Sheriff's Office says a gun stolen in 2015 from a patrol unit has been found in California.

The department was notified of the discovery on Tuesday by the FBI. Agents say it was recovered during an arrest of a gang member.

The suspect, who wasn't publicly named at the time of this post, is facing multiple charges including murder, drug possession and racketeering.

"Anytime a stolen gun is taken off the streets, it's a good day," said Waller County Sheriff R. Glenn Smith.

That weapon, along with 7 other guns, were taken in December 2015 from two Waller County vehicles parked outside of a Houston-area restaurant.

No other details are immediately available.
