MADISONVILLE, Tex. (KBTX) - Big changes are being planned for a busy Madison County road.
TxDOT is continuing future work to widen Highway 21 to four lanes. That'll be from the Madison - Brazos County border towards town.
The agency has been looking at right-of-way and the alignment for the widened highway. Madison County Judge Tony Leago told KBTX it will have a large impact in the community.
"We're very, very concerned about mobility through our county. We're extremely concerned. We've got big time traffic through our county and I know TxDOT's doing what they feel is the best," he said.
TxDOT believes construction should start on the widening project in 2022. A public hearing is expected to be announced in the coming months.
