More than 500 residents took part in Community Shred Day Wednesday in College Station.
FedStar Credit Union, in collaboration with the Better Business Bureau, hosted the annual event so people can dispose their unwanted personal documents properly to prevent identification theft, fraud or scams.
"It is our way that we give back to our community as community members come out for this," says Mary Beth Borroni with FedStar Credit Union. "It's a great way to eliminate all of your personal documents that you no longer need."
Embassy Records Destruction company was on hand to shred all the materials.
