KBTX, Downtown Bryan looking for summer concert series performers

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - KBTX and the Downtown Bryan Association are partnering to bring local talent to the Palace Theater and your television in the Summer Sunset Series Showcase presented by KBTX.

Brazos Valley bands are invited to apply to be one of four acts that will perform on Friday evenings in June and July at a free concert at the Palace Theater. The same evening as each winning band's show, the band will be featured live on KBTX's Free Music Friday during First News at Four. The band will also receive a $500 cash prize.

“We are excited to partner with KBTX for this new design of the Summer Sunset Series to showcase music talent from across the Brazos Valley,” said Katelyn Brown, senior events coordinator of the Downtown Bryan Association. “We are thrilled to promote the arts, music and culture of our community, and this is a great opportunity for local musicians to be featured in our annual Summer Sunset Series concerts.”

Online applications are open now through March 31. Bands can apply here.

"For eight years, Free Music Friday on First News at Four has given local talent a way to showcase their music to thousands of Brazos Valley viewers," said Kathleen Witte, KBTX First News at Four anchor. "Now, we're proud to partner with Downtown Bryan's Summer Sunset Series to expand the definition of 'Free Music Friday' by giving residents the opportunity to see these performances live and in person."

To audition, bands must submit an online application complete with a video. A committee will then judge the applicants based on certain criteria and the top four will be selected. See the Related Links for more information.
