A late-night crash in which a speeding car veered off the road, hit a curb and slammed into a Killeen family’s house claimed the life of the driver, police said Monday.
The accident was reported at around 11:40 p.m. Sunday in the 3500 block of Barbed Wire after a Dodge Challenger that was southbound on Bunny Trail at a high rate of speed left the road on a curve, hit a curb, veered into a front yard, struck a tree and then slammed into a house.
The green Challenger, with "The Punisher" painted on the side, ended up partially inside the house.
The driver, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene.
The homeowner said he was asleep in his bedroom and his wife was in the family room at the time.
No one inside of the home was injured.
Police would not confirm reports Monday that the driver of the car that crashed was racing another driver who fled.
