BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - The Lakeside Icehouse at Lake Bryan will no longer be open to the public following this weekend.
Owners Barry and Ali Ivins said on Facebook that they were unable to reach an agreement on their lease with BTU, who owns the lake and surrounding land. The Ivins have operated the Icehouse for the last 7 years.
“It was a blast getting to hear great live music while enjoying the best sunset in Brazos Valley and getting to call it work,” they said in a Facebook post Tuesday.
Several planned events are still scheduled at the Icehouse, and tickets are available online. Those events are:
Friday, August 31: Clayton Gardner
Saturday, September 1: Shadow Canyon (Free Show)
Sunday, September 2: Texas Unlimited Band
October 7: KEOS Lone Star Jam
The park surrounding Lake Bryan will remain open under management by BTU.
In a statement to KBTX, BTU said, "Preston Lakes, LLC., under the ownership of Barry Ivins for more than seven years, has held the Lake Bryan Park Management Agreement for the past decade. As the operators of Lake Bryan and the Lakeside Icehouse, they have brought in entertainment for customers that many of us have enjoyed over the years. Although we were unable to come to an agreement on new terms, and are, therefore, unable to move forward with the current business arrangement, we appreciate their commitment and wish Barry well in all future endeavors.
There will be no interruption of the Park operations—only the Lakeside Icehouse will close temporarily. BTU will assume full operation of Lake Bryan Park on October 1, 2018 and will continue to make improvements to the park grounds, including additional safety and security upgrades. New amenities are being investigated with the goal of making Lake Bryan Park a family-friendly destination and an asset to the Bryan-College Station area for years to come.”
