A suspect is in custody after he led authorities on a manhunt in Brazos County Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say Samuel White was found laying in some fields near Mumford Road and FM 2818 where that chase ended.

White was pulled over for speeding, but police say when he was told that he would be arrested, he took off and led several agencies on a high speed chase.

"I guess he must have panicked and took off and just hit me head on," said Ajitta Harwell, the woman White hit just before crashing into a field.

After crashing, White ran away on foot.

"He just hit me so hard, I was in shock," said Harwell. "I couldn't do nothing but sit there and scream.'

The search for him was called off a short time later, and authorities say they found White after some cows apparently gave up his hiding spot, as they were staring at him.

"You know, things happen for a reason," she said. "I'm just thankful that I'm OK, and I hope that he's OK. All I can do is just pray for him and myself."

Authorities say White had an outstanding warrant and think that's why he decided to run.
