BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - A 2-hour pursuit and manhunt for a shoplifting suspect ended in a head-on collision Thursday night in Bryan.
Bryan police first responded a reported shoplifting incident at Walmart on Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
Bryan police say when they attempted to contact the suspect, he ran from officers and jumped into a pickup truck and left the area.
Police did not chase the vehicle because Bryan Police Department policy does not allow pursuits for such cases, but a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) was issued to surrounding agencies.
DPS troopers spotted the truck and continued to chase the suspect into northwest Brazos County. During the chase, the truck was involved in a hit-and-run collision on FM 50 with an 18-wheeler.
Around 5:30 p.m., troopers spotted the suspect and chased him back into the city of Bryan. That's when the suspect hit two cars at the intersection of E. Villa Maria Road and Carter Creek Parkway.
Troopers say the suspect had serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital. A female passenger in the truck was taken into custody.
The people inside the other two cars that were hit had only minor injuries, said troopers.
