BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - Houstonians known Dave Ward. In fact, most Texans known Dave Ward. Nationally, you'll find plenty of news junkies who also know Dave Ward.
Now, anyone can get to know Dave Ward through his autobiography, "Good Evening Friends: A Broadcaster Shares His Life."
The man who has for so long told the stories of others on KTRK in Houston is now telling his own stories: interviewing a young George H.W. Bush about "hippies," announcing to radio listeners that their president, John F. Kennedy, had been shot and killed, and growing up in Huntsville, Texas.
News 3's Kathleen Witte speaks with well-known Houston newscaster about his book offering a behind-the-scenes look at his half-century career.
"I've had so many people ask me, 'When are you going to write all this down?'" said Ward. "Because my goodness, over all these years, all of the things that we've been through together here in Houston, I just had to put it down on paper."
A book launch event will be held at the Dave Ward Building at Crime Stoppers of Houston, 3001 Main Street, on May 6 from 11:30 a.m - 2:30 p.m. Books will be available for purchase for the very first time, and Dave will be autographing and available for photos.
