Huntsville High School has been opened as a shelter for the general public as of 8:00 a.m. this morning (Monday, August 28, 2017).
City of Huntsville Emergency Management Coordinator John Waldo confirmed that the shelter is available for anyone, Walker County resident or evacuee.
The High School is located at 515 FM 2821 East, Huntsville, 77320. Residents who need help leaving their homes or reaching the shelter may call 936-435-8035 for assistance.
A storm shelter is now open in Walker County at 455 Highway 75 N. for evacuees. If any Walker County residents feel they need a place to go during the storm, call 936-435-8035 to register.
