Little Free Libraries offering free books locally

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - Some little libraries are popping up across our area where you can borrow books for free.

Cynde Sampson first discovered the Little Free Library concept when she came across one of the boxes full of free-to-take books in a friend's neighborhood.

After researching them, Sampson ordered her own from the non-profit website, which is linked with this story. Being an English teacher for thirty years, she couldn't help but want one. After installing the library in July, it grew in popularity in just weeks, with new books showing up overnight.

The idea is that if you borrow a book, you will either bring it back or you'll replace it with a different book.

These Little Free Libraries are popping up all over the world. There are four registered sites in the Bryan/College Station area.

Sampson says she hopes people learn to love reading and says the books are there for everyone to enjoy.

You can find a local Little Free Library or order your own at LittleFreeLibrary.org.
