Bryan church hosting fundraiser for Franklin church destroyed in tornado

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX)- The tornado that hit Franklin in April destroyed homes and businesses, including the Secret Place of Family Worship Center.

The building received so much damage it had to be torn down.

The tragedy caught the attention of leader of Lifepoint Christian Church in Bryan.

"To see it destroyed and completely flattened out the way it was, just kind of like, we've got to do something," said Timothy Elizondo with Lifepoint Christian Church.

Elizondo started brainstorming. He teamed up with another church member, Miguel Escobedo, who owns Big Mike's Catering.

Saturday the church will host Funds for Franklin BBQ and all the proceeds will go to Secret Place of Family Worship Center in Franklin.

The event will take place in the Lifepoint Christian Church parking lot located off East Villa Maria Road near Carter Creek Parkway in Bryan.

From 11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. rain or shine, BBQ plates will cost $10.
