MAGNOLIA, Tex. (KBTX) - One man is severely injured following a late night explosion at a home in Montgomery County.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the explosion happened just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 31100 block of Timberloch Trail in Magnolia.

Deputies say when they arrived, one man was inside the home and he suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his body. Officials also noticed wires and what appeared to be large batteries inside the residence, so they called in the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office bomb squad.

After further investigation and interviews, deputies believe the man was trying to "decontaminate himself of bugs" by spraying brake cleaner fluid all over his body. He then attempted to use a vacuum "to remove the bugs" and during the power up process, officials believe the vacuum sparked, causing the man and the atmosphere around him to ignite.

The man is currently in critical condition and is unconscious. Investigators will interview him again once he is awake.
