Man arrested by local police linked to murder investigation in San Marcos

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - A man arrested last week outside a Bryan motel is linked to a murder investigation in Hays County, KBTX has confirmed.

Jon Hunter Jervis, 23, of Giddings, was picked up last Friday morning at a motel on Highway 21 after employees there discovered him passed out in a car in the parking lot.

Bryan police arrested Jervis after finding several baggies of meth in the vehicle and unused hypodermic needles. They also found credit cards and IDs belonging to other people inside the car.

News 3's Rusty Surette on Wednesday confirmed Jervis is connected to a homicide investigation more than 100 miles away from Bryan.

A spokesman for the Hays County Sheriff's Office said a capital murder warrant for Jervis was active and linked to an ongoing investigation by the San Marcos Police Department.

Sources tell KBTX that investigators from Hays County have visited with Jervis who remains in the Brazos County Detention Center on bonds totaling $80,000 for the charges related to his arrest in Bryan.
