LA GRANGE, Tex. - The man accused of shooting a Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy in the face is now facing four charges of aggravated assault on a public servant.

During a four hour stand off on Thursday, November 1, suspect Shazizz Mateen opened fire on law enforcement.

Officials were attempting to serve Mateen a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. One of the bullets hit Deputy CJ Lehmann in the head.

As a result, Lehmann lost his left eye and doctors are still trying to save his right eye.

He has an eye surgery scheduled for later this week. The sheriff's office says he still has a long road of recovery ahead of him.
